Samyang AF 18mm f / 2.8 FE: the new wide-angle lens for Sony E-Mount
Introduced a new wide-angle lens for Sony Full Frame 18mm cameras, featuring a compact and lightweight design.The Samyang AF 18mm f / 2.8 FE has been announced, a wide-angle lens that provides a 100.1 degree range of extension and excellent brightness, which lends itself to various fields of application, from night photography to that of of interiors, from landscape to architecture. On APSC sensors, instead, it is equivalent to a 27mm with 76.2 degrees of field, a comfortable all-rounder or a good street focal length.
As in most of the new lenses for mirrorless, the manufacturer has paid some attention to the dimensions, making it compact and light thanks to a careful choice of materials: the weight is only 145 grams, the length is 6 cm. The 18mm is part of the line equipped with autofocus, characterized by a barrel with a simple design, where the only ring is that of focusing. Optically we have a design with 9 elements in 8 groups, characterized by the classic Samyang multilayer treatment designed to maximize contrast and detail. Since the vocation of these objectives often turns to the night sky and to architecture, the distortions in the field are well managed, as demonstrated by the first widespread samples.
