iPhone XS and XS Max: here are the Smart Battery Case from Apple
Apple has finally launched Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS and XS Max. But they do not agree.
New details emerge on Apple’s Smart Battery Case; unlike the competition, these cases show the battery status directly on the iPhone, which is very nice. To get the purpose, obviously, it takes the software support: therefore, the covers do not work with iOS 12.1.2 but they are perfectly supported by iOS 12.1.13 onwards.
It also seems that they also work with iPhone X; once the incompatibility message has been canceled, in fact, the phone recharging proceeds normally. However, it is a combination that we do not recommend because the speaker and microphone holes are not aligned, and the camera’s notch is out of phase.
The Smart Battery Case have an integrated 10.1Whr battery and greatly extend the autonomy of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max: the 25 hours of phone calls + 15 hours of Internet / video playback of the Max become 37 phone calls + 20 hours of Internet and 25 hours of video playback. The iPhone XS, which is up to 20 hours of calls + 12 hours of Internet + 14 hours of video playback, reaches 33 hours of calls + 21 hours of Internet + 25 hours of video playback.
In December 2018, references to the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS, XS Max and XR were found in the material for the Apple Premium Resellers; these are the special covers with integrated battery already available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. Now they are officially on the market, but they do not agree much.
Update: It’s official. Cupertino’s integrated battery covers dedicated to iPhone XS, XS Max and XR are among us. They do not interfere with Wireless charging and protect “every inch of the iPhone.” They are made of soft elastomer and have a hinged mechanism that allows you to remove it in an instant and without effort.
Too bad that they cost a blunder: the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS, XR and XS Max are proposed at € 149.99. At a fraction of that figure there are covers of similar quality but decidedly more sophisticated design. Here are some examples:
