Galaxy A6s, the first smartphone not produced by Samsung

Based on data collected by Strategy Analytics, Samsung’s market share in China is less than 1% and this could lead to the closure of one of the two factories in the Asian country. To try to counteract the dominance of local producers, Samsung has decided to entrust the creation of the new Galaxy A6s to a third-party company (Wingtech). For the first time then a Galaxy smartphone is produced in outsourcing.

The Galaxy A6s obviously has lower specifications than the Galaxy A9s, available in Italy as Galaxy A9. The smartphone has a 6-inch Super AMOLED screen with full HD + resolution (2160×1080 pixels) and an 18: 9 aspect ratio. The hardware equipment includes the octa core Snapdragon 660 processor, flanked by 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage, expandable with microSD cards up to 256 GB.

The dual rear camera has a 12-megapixel main sensor, combined with a f / 1.8 aperture lens, while the secondary sensor has a resolution of 5 megapixels. A 12-megapixel sensor was also chosen for the front camera. Connectivity is guaranteed by the 802.11ac WiFi modules, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and LTE. There is also a fingerprint reader, 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Type-C port.

The battery has a capacity of 3,300 mAh. The operating system is Android 8.0 Oreo. Prices are 1,799 yuan (6GB + 64GB) and 2,199 yuan (6GB + 128GB), corresponding to about 230 and 280 euros, excluding taxes. Three colors available at launch: black, blue and red. It is not known if and when it will arrive in Italy
