Canon introduces the compact PowerShot G16, S120, SX170 IS and SX510 HS

Canon tip remains strong on compact cameras, but we do not speak about the ‘classic’ sun point-and-shoots. Among the four new PowerShot models presented in the recent days stands the G16, slightly retro-style camera that will arrive in October at the considerable sum of 604 €, which is justified by the presence of a 12.1MP CMOS sensor, DIGIC 6 and optical very bright f / equal to 1.8-2.8 Zoom 5x (28-140mm). The acquisition of the movies is obviously in full HD at 1080 in 60p well, thanks to the powerful CPU – up to now never used by Canon in this category.

Going down in the hierarchy we find the S120 (picture below), a retelling of compact S110 which also includes the DIGIC 6 and 12.1MP CMOS sensor (size 1/1, 7 “), its optical zoom is equivalent to 5x (28-120mm) and a more modest opening of f/1.8-5.7. In this model there is also the lack of the ability to record in 1080/60p content. The above costs 494 € – not cheap, but the top-level hardware is inevitably levitate the price. If you can afford the price we reassure you that you can buy Cameras at BIG W that that have the same calibre with the Canon’s above but in a much lower price.

The most ‘economic’ of the four is the SX510 HS and SX170 IS with loro329 € and 198 €, superzoom cameras that Canon is focusing on addressing a broader target, with the size of the camera body certainly more abundant and with much more shooting performance. The SX510 HS boasts a fact that is dated with the DIGIC 4 processor but also a powerful 30x optical zoom (equivalent to 24-720mm) with f/3.4-5.8 aperture and 1080p video recording which does not fall into the category of brigde were the dimensions are quite similar. One of the strengths of this superzoom is the Wi-Fi and the ability to connect to smartphones and tablets (Android and iOS) where is able to take advantage of their GPS and geo-localize images.
