Huawei announces the 8.4 and 10.8-inch MediaPads M6

The tablet sector is dominated by Apple, but Huawei is trying to increase its market share with the announcement of the new MediaPad M6 of 8.4 and 10.8 inches. These models are addressed to the use of multimedia contents, as can be deduced from the technical characteristics.

The WQXGA resolution (2560×1600 pixels) is identical for the display of the two tablets, as is the band of other specifications. In fact it integrates the Kirin 980 octa core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage, expandable with microSD cards up to 512 GB. Other common components are cameras (13 and 8 megapixels) and 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and LTE modules.

The frame is made of aluminum, as can be deduced from the lines that run along the edges, at the antennas. Being multimedia tablets I cannot miss a comparison with high quality audio. Huawei has chosen Harman Kardon songs (planned for 8.4-inch model and four for the 10.8-inch model), Ciao Audio technology and Huawei Histen effects.

Both tablets have the USB Type-C port, while only the 10.8-inch model has a 3.5 mm audio jack, a fingerprint reader in the frame and magnetic pins for connecting the optional keyboard. Battery capacities are 6,100 mAh (8.4 inches) and 7,500 mAh (10.8 inches). The operating system is Android 9 Pie with EMUI interface 9.1.1.

The prices of the MediaPad M6 8.4 are 1,999 yuan (64GB WiFi), 2,399 yuan (128GB WiFi and 64GB WiFi + LTE) and 2,699 yuan (128GB WiFi + LTE). The MediaPad M6 10.8 prices are 2,299 yuan (64GB WiFi), 2,699 yuan (128GB WiFi and 64GB WiFi + LTE) and 3,499 yuan (128GB WiFi + LTE).
