Google updates Wear OS with new gestures

Although the smartwatch market is still marginal, Google continues to update its operating system to improve the usability of devices. Waiting for the future Qualcomm processor that should finally increase the autonomy, users who buy the products already on the market will be able to take advantage of the new gesture of Wear OS to perform several operations in an immediate way.

The first news concerns notifications. With an upward swipe you access the corresponding screen, from which you can delete or interact with a single touch, for example to reply to a message. Instead of single pages, a scrolling list with all notifications is now visible.

With a swipe down, the quick settings panel is shown instead. Here the Google Pay icon is inserted if the smartwatch integrates an NFC chip. The Google Assistant screen is accessed with a swipe to the right. The assistant offers proactive and personalized help, in order to anticipate the user’s requests, for example by remembering an appointment.

Finally, with a swipe to the left, the screen of the new Google Fit is shown. The interface with the two concentric circles corresponding to the heart points and minutes of movement will appear on the clock screen. To change the watch face, a long tap on the home screen is required. The new gesture will arrive on all compatible devices during the next month.
