What We Know So Far about the Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung fans all over the world are eagerly waiting for the release of the Galaxy S7. The bad news is that Samsung hasn’t officially released any facts about the smartphone, but there’s some good news in the leaks that have been popping up ever since late 2015. It’s important to note that these are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt, but they can still be helpful since they give people an idea about what to expect.

The Variants

The first batch of rumors stated that the Galaxy S7 would have two variants:  the standard model and the S7 Edge. However, the latest set of leaks reveals that there might be three variants: the standard S7, the S7 Edge, and the S7 Edge Plus. According to leaks, the standard model may have a flat 5.1 to 5.2-inch screen, while the S7 Edge may have a 5.2 to 5.5-inch curved screen. The S7 Edge Plus is said to have a 5.5 or 6-inch curved display.

The Specs

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to have impressive features. It’s rumored to have a 12MP or 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera as well as waterproof capabilities, microSD card storage, and a powerful battery. The latest leaks also show that Samsung’s latest smartphone will have a feature that’s similar to Apple’s Live Photos, which allows people to create media that’s similar to GIFs but come with sound. The only difference is that Samsung’s feature will reportedly not have sound so that the photos could be supported and shared on Facebook and other popular websites.

Rumors also say that Samsung will release two versions of the smartphone, one with the Exynos 8890 processor and the other with the Snapdragon 820 SoC. If this pushes through, Samsung will give its customers the ultimate choice on which chip they’d like to power their unit.

The Verdict

Rumors are just that: rumors. Because of this, it’s better to wait until its release in late February to know exactly what the Samsung Galaxy S7 is like and decide if it’s worth the hype or not.
