The pen ARC | A useful pen for Parkinson’s patients

A few months ago we saw a spoon created specifically for Parkinson’s patients which allowed to counteract of the movements of the disease and be able to use a spoon without spilling anything. Inspired by the same principles of the spoon, Dopa Solutions has created a pen so that the sick can write smoothly. The ballpoint pen is called Arc and although it´s not yet being sold, tests have been successful.

According to studies, Parkinson’s patients often suffer from an effect called micrograph writing which makes it impossible for them to write for a long time. This is a problem that affects a large number of people with Parkinson’s in the UK, this fact affects 86% of patients.

To solve this, pen Arc is composed of several small servo motors that create internal motion to counteract the effects of the disease via microvibrations. This means that the sick can write without harming their letters. Besides, the Arc pen is constructed to be larger than normal, which means that the sick can hold the pen without problems or discomfort when using it. The size of the pen Arc is good for those suffering from parkinson.

Thanks to recent years, users of this disease have been able to improve their quality of life but have been unable to find a solution to this problem that affects many people worldwide. The Arc pen has been tested in many cases with a high rate of success. The only bad thing about this is that currently Dopa Solutions has not found someone who can help with the financing of the product and be able to market to patients who want to write and will be able to do it without any problems. However, seeing this, Dopa Solutions could have built the Arc pen with free hardware, so one can build theirself their replica. Wouldn´t that be nice?
