Pebble smartwatch releases a preliminary SDK for developers

The News this time  come from Pebble. The company behind the first screen smartwatch E-Paper announces the arrival of an SDK which is a toolkit for developers who want to go into the creation of dedicated apps. An important turning point because the primary focus on the launch of production now goes to the foundation of an ecosystem that will serve to make the product more mature, customizable and hopefully durable and attractive.

The news come from the update 34 for Kickstarter backers of the project published a few hours ago on Vimeo where the boss Eric Migicovsky explains some aspects of the SDK which at least for now will be published in a preliminary form. A beta, in short a far cry from what it will one day become and we will almost certainly see important changes in the API that is in the code behind the toolkit. This SDK test will also be very limited in functions so no advanced apps that interact with the smartphone will be made, but Bluetooth, accelerometer and other sensors are okay. For now the range of movement is restricted to customize the time display or other ultra basic apps based on your input clock buttons.

The SDK will arrive in the second week of April but is already available to the 100 financial institutions who have paid $ 235 through Kickstarter. The result of this initial distribution has already led to the creation of an adaptation of the game Snake which is not much but it is already something. Pebble has not yet entered the stage of mass production but you can preorder the SDK from the site of the manufacturer in five different colors at the cost of $ 150.
