Opening for the Samsung Innovation Museum

Samsung launched the museum of innovation, the Samsung Innovation Museum, which aims at supporting the exploration of the past, the present and the future of the electronics industry. In the Museum of Innovation from Samsung, which is located in Suwon Korea, visitors can see the rich history of electronics, the first electronic discoveries of Michael Faraday, Thomas Edison and Graham Bell and get a taste of the future with innovations that will follow. The five storey museum, an area of 10,950 square meters, is divided into three showrooms presenting the past, present and future of the electronics industry. In the halls 1 and 2, visitors can learn about more than 150 historic objects, while in room 3 it shows the present and future of technology.

Hall 1: The Age of inventors

The first room shows the history of the first discovery between the 18th and 20th century. The hall is divided into five sections: Discovery of electricity, lighting, telecommunications, household appliances and radio. In this room are presented the inventions of Michael Faraday, Thomas Edison and Graham Bell and the following prototypes:

– The Leyden bottle of Pieter van Musschenbroek, 1745.
– The wireless telegraph «Maggie» of Guglielmo Marconi, 1896.
– The original lamp bulb of Thomas Edison, of about 1900.
– The washing machine Maytag No. 45, 1911.
– The refrigerator GE Monitor Top, 1929.

In this hall it is also shown extensively the history of companies that were pioneers in the industry, such as Siemens (1847), the AT&T (1885), the Philips (1891), the GE (1892) and NEC (1899).

Hall 2: The age of industry innovation

In the second room which consists three zones are presented the main pillars for supporting the electronics industry: semiconductors, displays and mobile devices. Guests can learn about the landmark events in the history of technology, such as the invention of the transistor, the development of integrated circuits, semiconductor history and evolution of technology in displays. In the mobile section is presented the first mobile phone and the first smartphone in the world. Together with Samsung products in Hall 2, are presented products and other innovative companies, such as Intel, Sony, Sharp, Nokia and Motorola. Also on site there is also a workshop where children can learn about semiconductors, displays and telecommunications.

Hall 3: The age of creation

In the last room is presented the vision of Samsung for the future, but also the latest technology release of the company. The hall is divided into three parts:

– The Theatre, where guests through a 180 degree panoramic UHD screen can be informed about Samsung’s commitment to innovation and creating a better future.

– The Gallery for the presentation of the company’s products, pioneering professional products and latest products to world class, such as convex TVs.

– The site showing the social activity of the company.

History of Samsung Hall

Also, in the first floor of the museum is the company history room. There, visitors can learn about the history of the company, from the beginning of its establishment until today.
