Open the door through your phone | DoorBot and Lockitron

It is an idea that has ran in my head for years. Imagine if we could answer the doorbell of the house no matter where we are using the Internet connection. An American survey revealed that 91% of people in the United States hold the phone in a range of about 1 meter, 24 hours a day. The utility would probably not be so obvious but the convenience of a cellular telephone, ie the possibility to answer the door from our luxury smartphones is one of those things that all techno geek fans would like to have as soon as possible.

The dream came true with DoorBot, an aesthetically pleasing videophone that interacts with an unfailing App which makes it possible to open the door. Of course after checking those who present themselves at the door. This is made possible by a device, the Lockitron which is nothing other than a lock without a key that, once again by means of an App available for the usual iOS and Android, allows to simply open the door. DoorBot is made of aluminum, water resistant and can be mounted with just 4 screws, 4 runs on normal AA batteries that provide about a year’s worth of battery life.

As soon as the bell is sounded the app alerts the user that there is someone at the door in which case you can see who is communicating with it and thanks to Lockitron you can allow them in the house without moving an inch. However, for the moment the idea is likely to remain just that unless the company who designed the American Edison Junior is able to raise the funds necessary for large scale production. If this happens the price would be $ 169 for the DoorBot that becomes a 319 combined profit with the Lockitron.
