LG G5: The Latest Android Phone to Beat

At the 2016 Mobile World Congress, one of the new Android phones unveiled was the LG G5, a competitor to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple’s iPhone 6s. It boasts of a body made of metal, a microSD slot and a removable battery. Some Android phones these days have fixed battery packs, rendering it useless to buy new batteries unlike previous mobile phones. This large battery makes it easier for owners to change pr replace their batteries.

Other features of the G5 include an Always-On Display which allows for the checking of time, notifications and battery level without having to press a button to do so. The phone manufacturer also added extra modules to this smartphone, the CAM Plus and the Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play. The former is for the user to have a firmer grip of the camera and an added battery power as well. The latter, on the other hand, makes it possible for the phone to become an audio device. As for display, the G5 sports a 5.3-inch display and resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 at 554 ppi, a 4GB RAM and an internal storage of 32GB.

Storage capacity is expandable to 2TB externally. Also running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chip, better than its predecessor, the 810 chip which has heating and throttling issues. There are also two cameras at the back, the 16-megapixel with 78-degree lens and an 8-megapixel with a 135-degree wide angle lens. It also has a USB type C port and is WiFi-enabled. The camera-assisting sensors can also be found at the back as well as the fingerprint sensor. This sensor also works as the power button. As for volume level buttons, these are found at the sides and not at the back. Colors available are dark grey, silver, gold and pink.

Although consumers do not have an idea on how much it will be sold on the market, the LG G5 is definitely an Android phone to look forward to.
