Intel Tiger Rapids, dual-screen laptop

At Computex 2018 there was also space for the future and Intel, in particular, wanted to show the public Tiger Rapids, a laptop with dual touch screen. To see it might seem like a current project but, in fact, it is even dated 2016. Of the two screens, they are one is a classic color display. The other screen, in fact, adopts the e-paper technology. In practice, the second screen adopts a panel that is usually found in eBook readers. The main color screen has a 7.9-inch Full HD diagonal (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is connected to the second e-paper display through a special hinge. The idea is that the e-paper display can be used to take notes with a pen or be used as a sort of virtual keyboard.

The operating system is Windows 10. Thanks to the zipper, this very special dual-screen laptop can be used in various ways. Open, however, the Intel Tiger Rapids is not particularly bulky as it has a thickness of just 4.8 mm. The total weight is 465 grams. Good also the hardware equipment of this product that seems more like a digital agenda than a real laptop.

The processor is an Intel Kaby Lake with very low voltage to consume little energy. 8GB LPDDR3, 128GB SSD and a USB Type-C port complete the technical features. The battery should guarantee an autonomy of about 8 hours.

Intel Tiger Rapids will never come to market but could serve as an inspiration for manufacturers as similar products seem to interest many companies.
