Dell XPS 13, an Ultrabook created in collaboration with Intel

Dell XPS 13 delivered for preparing an Ultrabook made in collaboration with Intel that is affordable in Europe for 999 € with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. The variant receipt for the test, however, is the previous Windows 7 Home Premium: a “detail”, which inevitably affected the following evaluations. If you have already bought this version of the XPS 13 you can buy the upgrade for € 14. Unfortunately, when they have Windows 7 I could not see the gesture of the new operating system.

Dell XPS 13 laptop is beautifully designed with very nice packaging, the materials of the components are of good quality and the strength is the monitor 13.3″ integrated into a body 11″. The Intel i7 (the new version, however, features the i5) and 4Gb RAM  (optionally, you can take 8Gb) allow for access to the operating system in 15 seconds. The solid state hard drive is 256GB, while the new XPS 13 has two configurations from 128GB or 256GB. The webcam records in 1.3Mpixel.

With two built-in microphones, XPS 13 records and transmits the audio in stereo: the built-in speakers reproduce sound at a greatly appreciated quality. What I could try, in practice, is the version presented at CES 2012 in Las Vegas that only distributors found because the virtual store Dell has abandoned in favor of the new configuration. In addition to Windows 7 Home Premium with several bundled programs, the limits of XPS 13 are in the resolution – from just 1376 × 768 pixels – and the high price.
