Asus discusses with Microsoft | Plans for a Padfone

Sometimes a rational and intelligent design is not enough to achieve good sale results. The Asus Padfone is an example: a convertible device that shares a common core to power a smartphone that becomes a tablet laptop. A brilliant idea which may now be implemented even outside of Android used on the first two generations. And if it comes to Android it can only be Windows. But which one?

The news appeared on an online article in the Wall Street Journal where you can read a statement of Benson Lin, one of the bosses of the movable section of the Taiwanese brand:

The concept of our Padfone tablet + smartphone makes perfect sense to Windows 8. We do not have roadmap sets but we are interested in the production of Windows phones.

Interest which could soon become an agreement given that the company is currently in talks with Microsoft about a licensing agreement that could bring Windows 8 on smartphones.

That’s not right but it’s the way that Asus will be able to implement the environment of a smartphone with Windows Phone 8 on the main diagonal of a tablet device where Microsoft Windows normally equips with RT or Windows 8. TechCrunch suggests a hybrid environment consisting of two OS. We’re a bit skeptical but the idea intrigues us.
