Amazon Echo, comes integration with Skype

Good news for all those who have a smart Echo series from Amazon. Microsoft, in fact, has announced the integration of Skype with Alexa. This means that you can manage real calls and video calls through Amazon’s smart speakers. Obviously, video calls will be the exclusive prerogative of the Echo Spot and Echo Show models that feature a screen and a video camera. All other smart speakers, on the other hand, will only be able to handle calls.

Currently, this interesting novelty is only available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, India, Australia and New Zealand. However, the Redmond house highlights that soon integration will also be available in other countries. Indeed, there is already a support page in Italian that gives hope that Skype can arrive very soon even on Amazon’s smart speaker in Italy.

Taking advantage of this integration to make calls and video calls with Echo smart speakers is really easy. The first thing to do will be to start the Alexa app available for iOS and Android. Secondly you will need to go to Settings-> Communication-> Skype to set up your Skype account. Obviously, you will need to use the credentials of your Skype Skype account.

To make calls you will need to use the following voice commands.

“Alexa, call dad on Skype”

“Alexa, answer”

“Alexa, call 206-555-0155 on Skype”

To push on the use of this novelty, Microsoft has decided to give 200 minutes of Skype calls, 100 per month for two months, to mobile phones and landlines in 34 countries. For all those who own an Amazon smart speaker it is a very important news that significantly increases the potential for use of these products that are increasingly found in homes
