Ziphius is the first Aquatic Drone for the general public
This model, like those planes, is a robot controlled at distance but its use should not be espionage and military monitoring of the territory as is the case for the specimens for the army and the police. The project aims to democratize some of the qualities of the model 2.0 Parrot AR Drone, a quadricopter that combines the best of many worlds, such as modeling, gaming and augmented reality.

His frame of reference is not the shares at a certain height from the ground, but the kingdom of Neptune and what can be assimilated. In the aquatic environment this little gem of technology according to the authors intended to a wide audience, should feel at ease. It is excluded from its field operating scuba diving but the action takes place in surface smoothness, though not with record breaking performance. The Ziphius is powered by two electric turbines of small dimensions which still allow a certain flexibility in the phase of flotation, even in the presence of waves not particularly strong.

Its battery LiFePO4 is able to nourish the dances up to one hour with a significant advantage in terms of autonomy compared to flying drones that mull that much more energy during their operation. To manage the dynamics you can use a common iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, within a specified range. The presence of a video camera that can be rotated 180 degrees allows to have a control on streaming. The project is still in the start up so it is not easy to imagine the date of debut on the market, but it could even come out in the month of March 2014. Prices are expected to be less than $ 200. Not bad, right?
