Adobe:

Photoshop Touch can now work perfectly with pictures in print resolution up to 12 megapixels and different levels. Remember that Photoshop Touch app unlike other less sophisticated apps, is capable of supporting up to 16 levels full size in a single file, all in real time. The ability to work with multiple layers at a resolution so high is a developmental milestone and we look forward to see what people can create with it. The default resolution is set to 4.2 Megapixel at 10 levels, but in Preferences, you can bring it to 12 megapixels.

But we must mention that 12 megapixel maximum resolution can be obtained only through the use of the latest generation of the iPad, while the predecessors most people have can get up to a limit of 10 megapixels.
