The end for the music service Winamp

The famous company closes after 16 years of presence on the internet music service. Winamp, as announced by the owner AOL, is over. The website of Winamp will no longer be accessible to users by December 20 and the simple statement thanked the online community for its support.

The media player of Winamp first opened in 1997 and the creators were two students, and the service soon gained many fans. In 2002, it was acquired by AOL for the amount of 80 million dollars.

In recent years, the service was available to the public with Winamp versions for Mac OS computers and devices on Android, but the ever increasing competition from platforms like Spotify, the Pandora and iTunes brought shrinking users resulting in to closure.
