Sony Xperia S Tablet: More powerful and subtle

The third part of the touch devices launch at IFA Sony Xperia regards the Tablet S, a 9.4-inch tablet that takes the legacy of the Tablet S and restates it in a more attractive package, especially more subtle but powerful thanks to system-on-chip quad-core Tegra 3 from Nvidia.

The specifications reported today in an official announcement do not take us by surprise and confirm what had transpired in recent weeks with a few extra details, like the IPS screen with 1280 × 800  a density far from exciting for a modern tablet for almost 10″. The expandability is provided by mini SD ports and an HDMI video output. The battery has a capacity of 6000mAh and the card offers up to 10 hours of browsing and video playback in 12.

The tablet debuts with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, with a planned update of Jelly Bean will be concluded as soon as the porting of custom applications ends. Among these is an app that turns your tablet universal remote control for TV, home theater, audio systems and so on with integrated infrared emitters. An element already present in the Tablet S that rarely appears in this type of product.

There are three variants available: 16GB ($ 399), 32GB ($ 499) and 64GB ($ 599). The tablet will be accompanied at the launch by a set of accessories that include a charging dock ($ 40), a stand ($ 25), a dock-speaker ($ 130) and two cases, simple ($ 51) or leather ($ 80).
