Sony Reader Wi-Fi: An ultralight eReader

Here is the Sony Reader Wi-Fi, a product designed to defeat Amazon in terms of ease of transport. Sony Reader Wi-Fi weighs only 168g compared to 241g of the Kindle. At constant size (both mount a 6″ screen), this is a significant gap. Anyone who has ever handled the product Amazon has never complained of the excessive weight but the scale does not lie and when an eReader is off and inside our bag it is better to be as light as possible.

Despite the lightness it is a sturdy product which has proved not to bend even doing a lot of force with the fingers. The Reader Wi-Fi operated via a touchscreen interface uses infrared (this technology is to make it lighter but slightly thicker) and is equipped with a battery that can last for 14,000 pages. The internal memory is 1.3 GB and there is space to insert a microSD card. The Kindle has an internal memory of 3 GB, but it is a policy of Amazon to prefer space for the integrated memory.

Sony intends to inaugurate its online bookstore in England by October, but the Reader Wi-Fi reads quietly all the books in the ePub format. The price for this lightweight reader should be 130 pounds, equivalent to about € 149. The price is higher than the Kindle but the Reader Wi-Fi is certainly a product of the most advanced competitor.
