Portable solar panels that can recharge the batteries of smartphones, tablets and laptops are nothing new but a solar laptop that is able to start and run fueled by pure solar energy is something that until now did not exist. To achieve it we thought WEWI Telecommunications Inc., a small Canadian brand that offers customers the world’s military and police forces with inventions created ad hoc.

The laptop is called Sol, has 13.3″ diagonal runs with Ubuntu and as you can see from some pictures alongside these extraordinary laptop features a rugged aesthetic and levels of subtlety very far from those required for the end consumer. Weight and dimensions have not yet been disclosed, but numbers are certainly important as well as hosting the lid the screen also includes 3 solar panels folded up to cover an area equal to 4 times as much as the laptop.

Compromises that are inevitable also translate internal hardware chosen to minimize the consumption and can be used while panels also recharge the battery. The heart is an Intel Atom D2500 dual core Cedarview-D 1866MHz with integrated GPU backed by 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HD and 3G/4G connectivity with integrated GPS.
