Dell XPS 18 unveiled to the press

Windows 8 is stimulating the creativity of manufacturers in a way never seen before. So much that in recent months solutions that hybridize all forms of tablet PC known have appeared on the market. This time it’s a Dell that with the new XPS 18 today unveiled to the press its vision of a all in one touchscreen household revised in a laptop. More of a tablet or a all in one? Hard to say, but given the dimensions of the screen 18.4″ Full HD and the weight of nearly 2.3 kg it’s hard to imagine holding it with one hand and interacting with each other. The sofa, chair or any table in the house seems to the best places to use (integrated magnetic stand) and thanks to the generous battery included it can stay away from the socket for up to a maximum of 5 hours.

Considerable autonomy since the hardware included in the body is high end, though it could not have been otherwise considering the XPS brand. The version unveiled today is not the final one but we know that it comes with a Core i7 SSD hard drive storage, 8GB of RAM, strictly integrated graphics and obviously Windows 8.

In addition to the tablet the package will include keyboard, mouse and an optional metal stand with Pogo pins (cost $ 49) which not only recharges the computer but also gives a most typical form of a all in one desktop. Impressions captured by this preview look positive, especially for autonomy, flexibility and weight overall. The Dell XPS 18 will come out on the market starting April 16 for $ 899, an attractive price for a computer that is altogether very flexible but very appealing for the more basic version with Pentium, 4GB of RAM and 320GB hard disk.
