Acer Aspire P3 presented in New York event
News of Acer presented at the event in New York was the Aspire P3, a convertible Ultrabook small denomination that once again experimented with new methods of hybridization between laptop and tablet formats. The system chosen this time is the most radical with a total separation between the screen and the tablet made stand and keyboard. The result is something between the Surface and the Pro ultra portable with a sliding mechanism except that here there’s hinge slide but they are the same as with a display of 11.6″ there is close to zero space for a keyboard and the touchpad totally absent from the handset.

It is an unusual choice that will not be particularly welcome to those who preferred a machine able to juggle with more harmony between formats tablets and laptops. Beyond the compromise on the size, the aesthetic is modern and pleasant. Weights and dimensions are however not exactly record. The weight is 1.3 kg while the thickness stops just a few tens of millimeters from 2cm.

The availability of Aspire P3 even now starts at a cost of $ 799 presumably first on U.S. soil and then in the markets of Asia and Europe. A questionable choice given that there’s just a few weeks to the launch of Haswell which is expected to have substantial improvements in both the performance and autonomy as well in the low power devices.
